Signal Point

Yesterday I was having a very blah kind of day everybody I called was busy or out of town, I was just sitting about the house trying to find something to do. I finially decide that I should go wash my truck, cause it really really, I mean really needed it. While I was washing my truck I found out where it was leaking. I thought it was somewhere around the front window into the passager side floorboard but it turns out that it was from the back window. So I can fix that now, yay. After that I decided that I should go to signal point because it was a very pretty day and I like enjoying God's wonderful nature. It was great to be up there by my self. God provided a very nice sunset for me to enjoy with my camera. It really cured my blahness. On my way home I stopped by the Rave and watch Robots, its a decent movie, not fantastic though.

screaming contest

My older brother (he lives...Down Stairs [dun dun dun]) had a friend over today... well yesterday (just looked at the time) and his friend brought a van full of little kids mostly under 8 I'd say, several of them little girls. I didn't grow up with very many girl friends and I don't have any sisters. So here's the question girls. Did you ever have screaming contests to see who could scream the loudest?

Gay as folks

Some people are really afraid of gay people. They avoid them like the plague. Is it because they think they're all crazy sex freaks, or because they don't want to deal with somebody that messed up? Or maybe they think that the person will start hitting on them and they won't know what to do? Regardless, gay people don't bother me that much. I mean I know acting on gay impulses is wrong, but so is acting on non-marital heterosexual relationships, so I don't see them as that much different. I know gay people are often different, but are you afraid of everybody that's different than you? I used to work for a gay manager at one of my previous jobs and she was nice enough. And I read a blog from this guy that's going to school in London (londonDan) who happens to be gay. My point is that they are people too, we shouldn't be afraid of them, or run and hide when they come near. We should reach out to them, and do it in a gentle manner.

I feel I must blog this (Terri Schiavo)

If you haven't heard about Terri Schiavo's right to life case its all over the news. So know that you've heard about it, read this:

So what can I do about this?

You can take action and make a difference.

This touched me deeply.
And then for those curious, this is what Moby has to say about this. How could anybody be so sarcastic about this situation: "jonathan swift will write a book/script wherein it becomes illegal to die." That makes me so sad.
My eye's are beginning to watering.

Large Fat Man

I like a good large Fat Man.

Our portrait

This is way cool:I drew this for you. You should draw one for me. :)

Thanks Anne

For my birthday Anne (you're awesome) got me a copy of Moby's new CD hotel all-be-it an illigally burned copy. So its pretty good, I hadn't listen much to Moby, before this cd. The last song I heard from him was that song where he was in a astronaut suit for the music video. I don't remember what the single was called but I didn't care for it much. His new CD however is quite good. I think I might like Moby despite his strong left political leanings. His new album is 2 disks, the first is a normal album and then the 2nd CD is all ambient music which is fun. I've been listening to it all day at work (except for a stint where I was copying some linux CD's and listening to Rush). Thanks again Anne.

Firefox Update

There's a new Security update for Firefox (1.0.2) that was released today, so I'd be a good idea to download it you already Firefox and if you don't know what firefox is or you don't have it you should go get it at:
Firefox - Download Firefox

So, a side affect of all of this is that if enough update to at least 1.0.1 then I might try to do dropcaps again. Yeah I know... you're so excited that you just jumped out of your socks (but somehow managed to stay in your shoes).

The Dark side of the Rainbow

If you are trying to download the "The dark side of the Rainbow" you have come to the right place. Download The dark side of the Rainbow now! You will need Pando to download this file. Don't worry Pando won't put any spyware on your computer. Its just a lightweight download program that speeds things up a bit. :)

The Dark side of the rainbow is where you watch the Wizard of Oz (with the sound off) while listening to the dark side of the moon by Pink Floyd. It matches up. I matches up surprisingly well, so much so that its comical. While I must admit that its not as fun as just watching the movie regularly it is interesting that they are in sync with each other. I first watched in after I download them already synced up from limewire but it ended when the cd ended (43 mins) the first time though. Supposedly it stays synced through multiple plays through the album. So I downloaded the whole album and rented the movie. I couldn't get it to line up right and finally found out that the album I download was 3 secs short... and I didn't know where I was missing those 3 secs. So I bought the album, its a good album by the way. Anyways you should try it sometime if you haven't already, cause its fun.

my hard drive

I need to get my pictures and stuff off the hard drive on my laptop. Not sure how I'm going to do this yet considering that I can't turn my laptop on. It does have a removable hard drive so that with help. Also I don't have internet in my room right now because the only working computer that is in my room is the old tower that I loaded linux on in hopes of making it a server. For some reason it didn't like my network card or something so it won't connect to the internet. I guess I'll just have to put XP back on it. :( At least it should work that way.

Google X pays homage to Mac OS X before mysteriously going offline

More conspiracy with Google. The Google X (basicly a polished google search page) goes online and then offline in a day with no explanation. So does Google just not have there act together or are trying to be as mysterious as possible?

UPDATE: Somebody else has a mirror for the Google X page up now. You can find it at: http://www.theplaceforitall.com/googlex/

3rd times a charm, 2nd fix is a kill

This is the 3rd time I've tried to post about my laptop and if I do something stupid will posting this time I'm just not going to post it. So...
I killed it.
I didn't mean to, it just kinda happened, ... sigh. My laptop was getting all fussy with me a couple of days ago and the plug would get all hot causing my computer to turn off about every 15mins you can imagine how frustrating this was. The plug has always been a little loose and if you bumped it it would turn off, because it also didn't come with a battery. (yeah I know my laptop sucked but, at one point it did work...). I naturally thought that it was the heat causing the plug to expand and thus loosing its connection. The solution was obvious: bend the plug a little so that it will have a tighter fit and I won't lose the connection. Well this is a dandy idea but I forgot to unplug the power cord before I took my metal pliers to it, and ... well... I saw a spark, and then I cried. Not because of pain, nor the fact that my room was now on fire. I cried because I had killed a faithful gray hunk of machinery that had a special place in my heart. [tear]

So does anybody have a laptop that they were planning on selling to me?!?

Constant changes

I'm a update freak I guess. I spend about an hour today (well actually I'm still doing it while I'm typing this so...) making more small updates to my blog. I guess I'm just picky about stuff little stuff on websites, is that a bad thing? Well, at least I kept busy right?

Cool Mannequin that Spies on You

Exciting stuff. The mannequin will actually mimic your position will spying on you.
'Mannequins have been static but this will pose for the nearest person by sensing his or her position,' robot designer Tatsuya Matsui told a news conference Monday.

What a clever idea. And it adds another camera that's spying on you. How soon before we have advertisements that use our names?

What to do, what to do?

I'm behind on all the things I want to post about. Here's a short list of what's to come.
  1. The Shining and the Indians
  2. The Dark side of the rainbow
  3. More of my adventures on spring break
  4. www.answers.com
  5. My new picture blog
  6. Sometime I also need to finish part 3 of the incredible snowboarding adventures
So look forward reading about these not so interesting things and more. Stay tuned don't change that channel.

"I am an old Buddhist pilgrim, wandering about the world to teach the only true religion, which is truth." - Helena Petrovna Blavatsky (Russian theosophist and occultist)
Truth is such a funny thing. Everybody knows that truth is good and everybody wants to find truth. Yet most people never find the truth.

Caving

11 of us went caving last Monday, but only 13 came back safely. hmmm... that didn't really make sense. Let me try again. 'Petey' (that's what they call him), a bunch of his friends, Jonas, and I went caving at Petty John's last Monday. We had a pretty good time and as a bonus nobody died. :) It had been a while since I had been in Petty John's, or for that matter any cave at all. I was pleased that I remembered most of the cave. We were trying to climb back to the volcano room but we made a wrong turn somewhere and ended up nowhere in particular. We then retraced are steps and found the right hallway from the main room only to run into another dead end. I'm not sure what happened. I remembered a lot of the stuff on that branch of the cave but we ended up at a small crawl space that didn't go anywhere and so we turned back and left. Don't get me wrong, we had a great time, its just that I got very confused because I knew we were going to right way but then it seamed to just end. Oh well.
We had a pretty good group only 3 people decided to stay in the main room while we made a 2nd effort to find the volcano room. We were in the cave for about 4 hours or so, which isn't that long but it was plenty of time for the group to get tired, and after belly crawling to 2 dead ends I was all tuckered out too. This trip was satisfying and I'm looking forward to climbing/repelling tomorrow.

Before

After

Jonas has also posted about this trip.
LOOK AT MORE PICTURES

ugh I'm tired

Why do I have so many people in my home right now?!? I really need to go to bed... ugh. I have to go to work in the morning, it's after midnight and people are dying their hair in my bathroom. What is the world coming to? Caving yesterday was great! It had been a while since I'd been caving and it was good to crawl around in the mud again. More on this later. Jonas took photos on the trip, because his camera in weather/shock proof and mine is not. However after loading the pictures onto my computer to look at them he promptly deleted them. Alas... and how can I blog about caving without a good picture?!? Well I know Jonas will come through for me soon.

Spring break

So, I just got kicked out of my room because they're a bunch of girls have taken up residence there. I don't really even know how many. Jonas and I went to the symphony (good to have some culture in my life right?) and when we got back there were people asleep in my room. The reason? Peter. He's on spring break this week as well and brought a whole butt load of people down with them. But that's ok, Pete has lots of cool outdoor stuff planned for the week which hopefully I'll be posting on. I know, I know, you really don't care about my personal life, you just read my blog to catch up on the latest cool stuff, but for this week that stuff will have to take a back seat.

Another joke

A blonde calls her boyfriend and says, "Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can't figure out how to get it started."

Her boyfriend asks, "What is it supposed to be when it's finished?"

The blonde says, "According to the picture on the box, it's a tiger."

Her boyfriend decides to go over and help with the puzzle. She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table. He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box, then turns to her and says, "First of all, no matter what we do, we're not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a tiger."

He takes her hand and says, "Second, I want you to relax. Let's have a nice cup of tea, and then....." he sighed,
"...let's put all these Frosted Flakes back in the box.

PS This joke is provide to you by Nathan (who maybe will start a blog someday :))

And google gets better again

Now google local is cooler then ever. If you haven't figured it out by now I'm a pretty big fan of Google inc. So, google local now incorporates a small version of google maps and it also has reviews from of what you're searching for. For example if you search Lupi's Pizza in Chattanooga you get the exact location with a map and reviews of the pizza there. However its not perfect it thinks that lupi www.lupis.com when its not. However, I think that's pretty good for the googleplex (which is in Seattle) to know anything a local restaurant in Chattanooga. Yap that's pretty cool.
