Chernobyl "dead zone"

I ran across this site today and its really interesting. It has lots of pictures from this girl that rides her motorcycle into the Chernobyl dead zone. For those of you that don't know Chernobyl is a city where a nuclear power plant melted down and the Soviet government didn't tell anybody about it until it was far too late. Don't read this site if you are in a good mood.
"The readings on the asphalt paving is 500 -3000 microroentgens, depending upon where you stand. That is 50 to 300 times the radiation of a normal environment. If I step 10 meters forward, geiger counter will run off the scale. If I walk a few hundred meters towards the reactor, the radiation is 3 roentgens per hour - which is 300,000 times normal. If I was to keep walking all the way to the reactor, I would glow in the dark tonight. Maybe this is why they call it magic wood. It is sort of magical when one walks in with biker's leather and walks out like a knight in a shining armor.

There are many places that not structurally safe, or have collected pockets of intense radiation. There are places where no one dares to go, not even scientists with protective gear. One such place is the Red Wood forest and another is the Ghost Town Cemetary. The relatives of the people who are buried there can not visit, because in addition to people, much of the radioctive graphite nuclear core is buried there. It is one of the most toxic places on earth."

YAY new flash

So as you might have noticed I have a little flash animation in the title now. I finally found out how to put flash on just the first page instead of all of them like the last animation that I had, which got kind of annoying. You just have to use conditional tags. So anyway, all of you that have been following my blog for a while should remember the old animation. Which one do you like more, the old welcome pseudo splash page or the new small title animation? Now that I can just put it on the main page the annoyance factor of seeing it all the time would drop signifigantly, so that need not be a factor in making up your mind. Which one was cooler, the new one of the old one?

Which flash animation did you like more?

So its true...

Ok girls, brace yourself... I'm dating somebody. [all the girls sigh..] Yeah I know, you we're hoping to win my heart and I applaud you for trying. However, my attention is now rather focused. She is actually the reason I got my truck stuck. Yeah that's kind of embarrassing... and she's the reason that I went caving the other day. And I got a speeding ticket (on a gravel road no less) and she pulled a muscle. So far I think we've had a good start... :/ Well I would tell you how awesome she is and how much fun we have together and how we're the perfect match but you don't want to read that sappy stuff. I know because whenever I run across a blog like that it makes me ill and I don't stay long. Since I couldn't stand it if I were to lose any of my 5 readers, (I love my loyal fans) I will try not to write too much sappy stuff in here.

Well "now you know, and knowing is half the battle."

Ads in IE

Well I've decided to be nice to all of ya'll using Internet Explore or AOL instead of Firefox. You can now see the google ads on the left and my newest (not so new) flickr pictures on the right. So you should support the 'GodsMoon's a poor college student' fund by clicking on the ads every once in a while because every time you do an angle gets his wings.
And I get a pay check...

Note: you will only see 'extra' stuff if your screen resulution is 1024 x 768 or greater. If you have problems let me know. But looks like most of yall should be able to see it :)

What's up

So I've been kinda busy lately... changing tires, getting my truck unstuck (yes when I get some time I'll post about that), hiking, and I'm going caving later today. Today I leave you with an important question:
Have you ever smeared peanut butter on your hand?.... Actually that's not the question that I wanted to ask, I wanted to ask:
Which is more important to you? Who you really are, or how others perceive who you are?
I've been think about this for a couple of days now I and I don't know how I feel about it. Obviously its important to be yourself right? But at the same time other with never treat you for who you really are but they well treat you through the eyes of their perception of you. Interesting...

Its 5am

I had a terrible night, ugh... I'm still awake and its 5am. Earlier I had two police officers in the back of my truck. Did I mention that I had a terrible night? I'll tell you more later.

Do not worry

I read this last night in my devotions and it seemed appropriate. not be worried about your life... And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? ... So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

I am the flyer
I am the catcher

I am the knight
brave, courageous, strong
fearless, in shining armor
swift sword in hand ready to slay any monster

I am the dragon
steal scales, iron claws
The fearless fear me
guarding the treasures of treasures with my fire

I am the mouse
furry, cute, scurrying around
attracted to anything shiny
or anything that smells like cheese

I am the trap
cold, hard, quick
luring those that may come by
only to end their curiosity

I am the creator
imagine, carve, mold
those aren't clouds
slivers of imagination I hold in my hands

I am the destroyer
death, sharp, blood
smoke rising from the ashes
one in hand and another under foot

I was shot Multiple times.... But I think I can rest now

I walked into a grocery store with two woman, they go separate directions and I followed one of them... I seemed to recognize the store almost dajavue except I remember it as a toy store with tall shelves. This time it has low sloping tables lined with potato chips, fruit and other food products. I followed at a short distance much like I always do at a grocery store. I was trying to decide if I knew this girl or not when I noticed the large fish tank. This tank was about the size of one of the medium size tanks at the aquarium. The woman was taking out a small exotic looking fish with a pair of tongs and putting it in her cart, when I say a shark that seemed to large for the tank coming right at me with teeth....
[a flash of white] I seem to be a guardian of a bunch of children, all of them under age 10. There are other care takers but I seem to be the only male. We are in tree dwellings kind of like Ewoks. One night a mysterious man comes and shoots one of the little girls in the chest knocking her over while I watch her. I'm paralyzed... [flash] I'm stabbing him repeatively in the heart with a knife [flash] I see him disappear into the night... Untouched. I'm mad at myself. Why didn't I stop him, why couldn't I stop him. Another night... another child... this time I was inside and didn't know what had happen until the little boy was cared in on a stretcher... This time the poor kid didn't make it. The next night I was ready for him. When the killer appeared I shot at him... I think I must have missed... He's still coming... I've been shot in the left shoulder the bullet went all the way though my body... I feel the warm blood start to run down my back as other one hits me, but not before I get another shot off. This time I think I hit him, we exchange wounds as he starts to go down. The last shot is right in the middle of his forehead. I think I got him... Quick get the kids inside, I think to myself. I seem to have been shot multiple times.... I think I've been shot in the back of the neck..... I'm not going to make it inside.... Two more steps and.... I'm following to the floor...[black] I awake in the hospital. I can't tell how long I've been here. I don't think its been that long. Nurses keep coming in and saying that I have EB or maybe its EM I'm not sure, but I'm sure I don't know what it means and by the looks on their faces I'm not sure I want to know. I'm not sure if I can speak, the last thing I remember was walking so surely I can still walk... Are the kids alright?!?!

- This is the dream I had last night, pretty crazy eh?

Woot! Come buy crap!

Woot! is an awesome little site. They sell one item and only one item per day until the end of the day or they run out of stock. And the sell it for a great price. They sell video projectors, home entertainment systems, remote control cars, you just never know. I've never bought anything from them before, but as an added bonus they're product descriptions are great to read. They also have an xml feed so you can subscribe to them with bloglines.
Today's product is a bag of crap. If you check their website today you can see, tomorrow it will be different of course. In case you missed it this is what they were selling today:

Random Crap

Episode V: The Puck Strikes Back

(this is misunderstood by some each time)

It's time once again to lower your expectations and shell out your hard earned money for utter crap!

Fellow tax payers, welcome to the infamous money pit known as the Woot Bag O' Crap. Unlike our fine government, we promise you very little in return for your crap investment. We will not maintain the public roadways, we will not attempt to improve society with glorious social programs, and we will not keep your children safe from aging pop icons. Instead, for your investment of time and money, we will send you one fairly useless bag with (ideally) 3 random crappy items from our warehouse in it. Similar to the tax filing process, you may encounter confusing and annoying obstacles. Do not be alarmed, these are repeated random crappy server-crashes as your fellow wooter attempts to thwart you from fulfilling your curious obsession with crap. Hmm… If the IRS made things this difficult to file and then sent you back a box of random crap, would you rush to pay your taxes?

Bag O' Crap Rules:
  • Thou shalt not expect the world from your crap.
  • Thou shalt expect some people might get nicer crap than you.
  • Thou shalt consider if it is better to go through life without our crap.
  • Thou shalt not order just 1 crap and blame it on our server.
  • and... Thou shalt consider the empty bag worth $3 + $5 shipping,
  • ... otherwise this might seem like gambling.
Thanks for the continued success of woot!

Cheers! - the woot team

Disclaimers: This is a bag of below-average usage possibilities. Any Bag contents, ie.. "the crap" is going to be crap along with the bag itself being crap. The cardboard box we ship this in will likely be crappy. FedEx or UPS might give you crap when they deliver your shipment. Even if you are easily pleased, you should lower your expectations -- this is plain old utter crap. If you can't afford to waste money on a bag-o-crap, please do not. Yes, this is worse than checking that box to contribute a buck for presidential campaigning.

Just trying to make cents

As you can see (if you don't have a tiny browser resolution) I've added google adsense to the far left of my blog. I don't expect that many of my faithful readers with click on that many ads but, you never know. The ads are relevant most of the time to what I'm blogging about so it just makes sense to have links to related stuff that I get payed for. This is more of an experiment than anything else. Every time somebody clicks on one of the ads I get a couple of cents. YAY! Maybe it will be enough to buy a piece of candy one day. ;) I'll let you know if and when I get my first pay check from it.

UPDATE: I've made $1.41 my first day with adsense isn't that exciting!!!

Good Intentions

People are most dangerous when they have the best intentions.

I'm mostly harmless.

So how could you not fall in love which such adorable little creatures at hedgehogs. And at around $40 how could you not own one! So I know what you're thinking. "But aren't they spiny?!?"
Their backs are covered with rows of short prickly spines and their bellies are covered with soft fur. When threatened, they roll in to a tight ball with just a mass of spines poking out. When relaxed, the spines lay almost flat.
So its no big deal that they have spikes as long as you don't pet them the wrong way!
They reach in a size of around 5-8 inches in length and live from 3-8 years and as a bonus they are fairly low maintenance pets. Hedgies also have a peaceful and humorous nature.
So I think I might get one. They're cute!

I am Myers-Briggs INTJ, who are you?

We've all taken dinky personality tests online like the Evil Genius Test. And if you're like me, you find them amusing. However there is a real personality test called the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®, that is used by professionals to evaluate people. The actual test is very long and you usually pay someone a great deal of money to give the test to you, however you can take a free abbreviated test online, that should be fairly accurate. I scored an INTJ. Which is descibed as "The Masterminds". I think I could get used to that title, yeah, its got a nice ring to it. ;)

Anyways I share my gerneral personality with a small but interesting group of people including:
And fictional charaters:
If you find any of these charaters interesting then chances are you will find that I am an interesting person. You can read the complete description of an INTJ if you'd like or just read some excerps below.
When it comes to their own areas of expertise -- and INTJs can have several -- they will be able to tell you almost immediately whether or not they can help you, and if so, how. INTJs know what they know, and perhaps still more importantly, they know what they don't know.

INTJs are the most self-confident of all types, having "self-power" awareness.

If an idea or position makes sense to an INTJ, it will be adopted; if it doesn't, it won't ... authority per se does not impress the INTJ.

INTJs apply (often ruthlessly) the criterion "Does it work?" to everything from their own research efforts to the prevailing social norms. This in turn produces an unusual independence of mind, freeing the INTJ from the constraints of authority, convention, or sentiment for its own sake.

... they possess the unusual trait combination of imagination and reliability.

Anyone considered to be "slacking," including superiors, will lose their respect -- and will generally be made aware of this.

INTJs do, however, tend to conform to rules, if they are useful, not because they believe in them... but because of their unique view of reality.

No idea is too far-fetched to be entertained

INTJs are the natural brainstormers, always open to new concepts and, in fact, aggressively seeking them.

INTJs manipulate the world of theory as if on a gigantic chess board...

Typical INTJ career choices are in the sciences and engineering...

NTJs can rise to management positions...

Difficulties are highly stimulating to INTJs, who love responding to a challenge that requires creativity.

... colleagues find the INTJ apparantly unemotional and, at time, cold and dispassionate

This happens in part because many INTJs do not readily grasp the social rituals; for instance, they tend to have little patience and less understanding of such things as small talk and flirtation (which most types consider half the fun of a relationship)
Yes, small talk does bore me most of the time, but I'd have to say that I'm a pretty big flirt. ;)
At times, [they] will seem cold, reserved, and unresponsive, while in fact INTJs are almost hypersensitive to signals of rejection from those for whom they care.

As parents, INTJs are dedicated and single-minded, in their devotion: Their children are a major focus in life.

They are supportive of their children and tend to allow them to develop in directions of their own choosing.

...criticism from people in general does not particularly bother the INTJs, if they believe that they are right.

Others may see what is and wonder why; INTJs see what might be and say "Why not?!"

Paradoxes, antinomies, and other contradictory phenomena aptly express these intuitors' amusement at those whom they feel may be taking a particular view of reality too seriously.

INTJs enjoy developing unique solutions to complex problems.
So, that describes me pretty well, its not perfect but it definatly hits the target. The best place that I've found to learn more about the 16 differant types is:
I think this stuff is pretty cool, you should take the short free test and post your score in my comments. why?! Becuase its fun!

We never met, you and I
We were always inside, we were somewhere inside
one another. And I'll live without you love,
but what good is one glove, without the other?

You only ask about my leaving,
well honey I had no choice, so
I call and (when you hear that heavy breathing)
for that sound of your voice.

But you sit there silent, folded arms
And look down as I walk by
Though my face has changed, you know it's me
You know by the stillness in my eyes.
Come and whisper in my ear, "you're very pretty, dear" and
"it'll be alright." You're lying!
But I don't mind tonight.

So I wander and I wander
Your absence beating inside my chest
I try but I can't remember
The color of your eyes- just the shape of your dress.

And through a garden overgrown
Oh, it's a long walk home.
I said I'd not come back, well I'm coming back-
and you'd better be alone.

You sit there silent, folded arms
As you smile, as i walk by
My face has shamed, But you know it's me, YOU KNOW ITS ME!
Come and whisper in my ear, "my dear! my dear!"
"it'll be alright." "it'll be alright."
"it'll be alright." "it'll be alright."
"it'll be alright." "it'll be alright."

What's Your Top 5?

Psych-Girl has been going around asking people what are the top 5 characteristics that you look for in a relationship other than God stuff (would be at top of list of course). Here is my top 5 in no particular order:
  1. Smart - being stupid is not attractive. This includes book smarts but more importantly common sense.
  2. White or possibly Asian - sorry if you're not its nothing against you.
  3. Can Cook - Food is the way to a man's heart ladies. If you don't know how to... Learn!
  4. Adventurous - What do I mean by this you ask? Well pretty much adventurous in every possible way that it could be meant. But not more adventurous then I am. That'd just be scary.
  5. Cute - The whole big and beautiful think is over rated. You have to be cute or at least capable of being cute at times. ;)
There are other things too like: nice teeth, good hands, attractive ankles, that sort of thing. But none of those rank in the top 5. So, if you fit this description you should give me a call or leave me lots of comments or something. ;)

So what are your top 5?

This post was not meant to offend anyone if you are offended get over it!

Pictures from Iraq

If you want to see great pictures of everyday life from Iraq I stongly suggest you check out Razorsedge1911's pictures. Razorsedge1911 is a good friend of mine, that I've missed a lot since he's been in Iraq. :( But its great to see his face agian.

Prepare to Laugh

As of late I've found these hilarious sites, you should visit them and laugh with me:
Whoa that was a good laugh.

Drop Caps are back

They're back folks. I know you missed them and since firefox has fixed most of its bugs with them I figured I'd start it back up. They still don't look perfect in Internet Explorer, but that's ok, because those are the non cool people anyway. ;)

For some reason it doesn't work if I have a picture floated to the right or left in my post. I'm not sure why this is. I'm sure its a bug and not my code ;) This problem is fixed in Opera. However, the letters aren't really dropped down at all. Hmmm I guess coding on the cutting edge of technology has its drawbacks, but for the most part I think it looks alright.

Interesting drug facts

I usually don't talk about work but the other day I got a handout about our company drug policy. The handout had a bunch of stuff about how to get terminated, but it also had a lot of interesting facts about drugs. Here as some of the more interesting ones:
  • ALCOHOL - Half of all high school seniors had at least one drink last month
  • ALCOHOL - One in ten drinkers are problem drinkers or alcoholics
  • INHALANTS - An alarming number of children become regular inhalant users even before the sixth grade.
The handout had info on several other drugs as well, pot, cocaine, a large section on meth because its so popular in this area, and narcotics. It didn't mention ecstasy at all. But of all the info I thought the above to be the most interesting, especially the one in ten statistic. I didn't know that many people had such a problem with alcohol.

The Passion has left

I thought it'd be a great idea to show the Passion of the Christ on campus at UTC to create witnessing opportunities, and just to get people thinking about Jesus and who he was. So, I got the auditorium reserved, and even started promoting it only to find out yesterday morning that I couldn't show it... sigh... It was a great idea at least. A lady called me about copyright laws and told me that I couldn't just rent the movie from anywhere if I was going to show it publicly, I had to rent it from Swank. However, if you visit they're webpage you see a happy little message:
The Passion of the Christ
is no longer available for non-theatrical licensing
I assume that the reason is because the movie is back in theaters, and I can't show it for free if people are still willing to pay for it in theaters. That would be a terrible thing right?!? Stupid movie people that make a good film about Jesus and tease me about being able to showing it.
Anyways if you haven't seen The Passion of the Christ they you should go see the newly Cut Version . I heard that its less graphic. Regardless its a great movie with a powerful message.
